I think one could be made pretty easy if you had access to a mill...and with some difficulty if you had a vise and files.<br /><br />A quick search didnt turn up anything narrow enough to fit into a Krag sight base.  There a lot of inserts that could be milled down to fit though.<br /><br />An ...

Looks like a 46 star to me.
Bottom row of stars is all in a straight line and the third and fourth rows from bottom look to be in line.

So 1908 to 1912.

Id reline it myself.
Its much less daunting than it sounds and about half the cost to DIY.

Check out a couple YouTube videos, I think youd agree.

Theres one on eBay right now for $195.  I think thats high but itll probably sell.  Id look for one at more like $150.

To remove the cutoff, use a small thin blades screwdriver to depress the ball detent while pulling out.  No big trick at all.
