Re: Those Zany Norwegians

Be careful when dealing with Norwegians. You won't know those of Viking Berserker lineage among them.

Re: 1893 Spanish Mauser

I have a M1916 Spanish Mauser in 7x57 built at the Oviedo plant in 1921 according to the serial number. It has not been sporterized and has the original barrel length of 21-3/4". It is all beat to crap, but retains a very good bore. The top of the rear sight is worn so badly that the graduation numb...

Re: 1893 Spanish Mauser

Nice shape Mauser. I have a Model 1916 Mauser built at the same plant in 1921. No where near this good of shape. The Spanish Civil War was unique. How would you like your country fought with Stalin (communist) on one side and Hilter (fascist) on the other?

Re: Exercise With Krag Jorgensen Rifle

Men must have had less inhibitions back then. The 2-man exercise looks like ballet. I'd like to see a video on it. :P

Exercise With Krag Jorgensen Rifle

Need to get back in shape after the holiday festivities? Got a few extra pounds you would like to loose? Want to enjoy one of your favorite hobbies while loosing weight? Consider exercising with your Krag Jorgensen rifle the military way. (This is all tongue in cheek, so don't take me seriously.) He...

Re: Pearl Harbor Day

I have this old Atwater Kent AM radio that was built in 1930. It was left in the first house my Dad purchased and now it is in my home. It still works. This time of year my wife and I put her grandmother's Nativity scene on it. I can imagine that on December 8, 1941 (the day after the Pearl Harbor a...

Re: My New Bubba Acquisition

BR did find a nice vintage article to read, not sure what year it is from. I'd have to say that a Krag sporter ranks right up there with a Marlin Model 336 or Winchester Model 94 leveraction for handiness. Except it has better ballistics than a 30-30 or 35 Remington. Nice looking rifle you have there.

61 Serial Numbers From 1912/1913 Documents

Here is a government document listing (61) Krag serial numbers, mostly carbines, in West Virginia during 1912. Lists the name of civilians they were sold to, but did not match up the serial numbers with individuals. The document is titled "Conditions In the Paint Creek District, West Virginia" put t...
