Re: Question about a 1892 Krag

Don't mean to be a parrot, but would certainly like to add whatever weight I might have to the argument. Return the gun - it is a buggered POS of no value to a serious collector. You will hate it every time you look at it, and you will never get your money out of it. Go to small claims court if you ...

Re: Remember this - Biden is NOT president yet!

Whig, I share your concerns, but am not a particularly religious person. God has "allowed" some pretty bad stuff over the years. I think a more realistic approach would be to hope that enough people wake up and realize what they did, or were led into, and take legal action. Sleepy has already made a...

Re: 1899 Philippines Constabulary Carbine Production Numbers

Two things to always consider when evaluating a specific specimen are quality of workmanship and uniformity of finish. SA's work was impeccable - it is hard to find the stock plug on my [JFC] stamped "full-stock carbine". All of the LEGITIMATE specimens were produced over 100 years ago, and no matte...

Re: 1899 Philippines Constabulary Carbine Production Numbers

You may have a problem with sorting the PCRs from "school guns", which are basically identical in appearance. I would think the only ones actually destined for, and used by, the Constabulary would be those altered at Manila, which had a well-equipped depot capable of most anything short of actual ma...

Well, nothing today - maybe tomorrow?

Update, 1-20-21 9:00 AM PST: Nope - just more false hopes. We're surely in for it now.

Re: Just Curious

If only it were that simple to escape the drones. Believe me, Big Sister knows, or can find out with a couple of keystrokes, EXACTLY where each and every one of us resides and even whether or not we are likely to be at home. VERY CONCERNING. This is NOT the America in which I grew up, and I'm scared...

My location does not show, and I think I'll leave it that way, unless I'm struck by some whimsy.

Re: Deja vu all over again - 26" version

Chuck, I cannot (and do not) say that it was, because any supporting evidence is gone, and the 100 rare items are scattered in little clusters over a range of roughly 2000 where everything else is a garden-variety 30" rifle. It was just that old hair on the back of the neck feeling when first seeing...

Deja vu all over again - 26" version

For those who follow gunbroker, item 889672214 is precisely the kind of ad that led me to my two 26" rifles a few years ago. Buggered and cheap. My heart almost stopped when I saw this one with number 387809 (which is right in the heart of the range but not really close to any - they seem to occur i...

Re: Pictures for A Krag Book! (American Models)

Sort of an associated question, if you have not yet settled on a publisher/printer, etc., or are set on hardbound, I can (after doing two books all by myself, from scratch) recommend Kindle Direct Publishing, a subsidiary of the hated Amazon. I use a Mac and did the whole thing in Pages (word proces...
