Re: Any Birth Year Firearms?

I bought a Remington 1903 from the CMP a few years ago that has my month and year
of birth on the barrel. (7-42) I thought that was pretty cool and I bought It post hast.

Re: Lead removal

Just make sure it's copper and not steel with a copper plating.
Use a magnet to be sure. It really is the best way to remove
lead. The trick in shooting cast bullets is to make sure the
bullets are the same size as the throats (exit holes) in the
cylinder.

Re: Picked up a new toy

I have several SMLE rifles and shoot cast bullets in them. A load of 16 grains of 2400 and 200 grain cast bullet will hit a 10" steel at 200 yards off the bench all day long. Slugging the barrel on a enfield is quit a trick, being they have a 5 groove barrel. If your barrel is as good as you say, yo...

Re: Krag 1899 Oiler and Cleaning Rods

Didn't the carbines only have 2 cleaning rods? The oiler goes in first
and lays in the small hollow, then the rods go in. The rods have to

Re: New Krag owner!

Be careful what you store your Krag in... Some of these
cases could cause you more rust then you can believe.

Re: Front clamp loose

The stock is dried out from years of just being in a gun safe or
such... I would remove the barreled action from the stock and
apply BLO (boiled linseed oil) to it. this will replenish the
moisture to the wood and will make it swell. I've done this to
many old military rifles an...
