Re: 30-40 Ammo Pull-downs replaced with Pyrodex

Late to the party here... but I agree! I can't imagine why anyone would want to shoot Pyrodex out of a rifle designed to shoot smokeless! Like Waterman said, you're asking for trouble! An aggressive cleaning would likely provide better results. Remember - Do no harm!

Re: member psteinmayer

Thanks so very much Chuck. And thank you for the Birthday wishes too! Yes, it's true... I've been pretty absent lately. My second mom passed away on Easter Sunday after battling cancer for several years. My dad is truly alone for the first time in his life (after my mom died in 2002, my son moved in...

Re: Odd Behavior

You thing the bolt is not the best? You should see my son shoot my Type 99 Arisaka Left handed!!! It's mesmerizing the way he reaches accross the action with his left hand to cycle the bolt! And he does it like a pro too!

Re: Where can I find ammo for my 30-40 Krag

Gun shows, as stated before can be a good source... but beware. Some sellers are filling boxes with their reloads. While the loads may or may not be safe... I personally don't trust reloads that are loaded by anyone except my own!!! I know my quality procedures, and I'm confident my powder charges a...

Re: 1898 Krags

Back in 1983 when I was in the Navy and stationed at the NAS in Meridian MS, my roommate and friend re-enlisted and was rewarded with a $64,000 re-enlistment bonus (back then, critical rates frequently received huge re-enlistment bonuses).  He cashed his check, depositing half, and receiving th...

That guy is either thinking about murdering his mother-in-law, or badly needs a glass of prune juice!

Re: Gonna try a new load

I shot a couple Vintage Matches today with my Krag and the new Lithgow SMLE (results for the SMLE covered in the Other Firearms topic).  For my Krag, I tried those Hornady 178 Grain A-Max bullets that I loaded up earlier this year (load data is the subject of this thread).   The resul...

Re: Picked up a new toy

Well, I shot the Lithgow today in a Vintage Match.  My first sighter was literally the first shot I've taken with the rifle.  Took me 4 sighting shots to get it dialed in.  Overall, it performed great.  Parashooter, those chargers really worked fantastic, Thank you so very much!&...

Re: Load Suggestions

That's the interesting thing about Krags - they are almost human in that different Krags like different food!
