Re: 1902 Discharge Papers

I looked into the book titled "History of the Fourteenth United States Infantry" from January, 1890 to December, 1908. It does not appear that a whole lot happened October 3, 1899. Re: Not sure if this is correct

Hey crappiecatcher:
Could you give us some more info? The barrel length for one. Pictures would be good also. Thanks and welcome.

His discharge papers were signed by 2nd Lt. Louis Hamilton, the great grandson of Alexander Hamilton. His ...

Re: Krag Rifle Serial #173672

It is amazing how little known the Philippine Insurrection is among the general populace. I would not have known much at all if it wasn't for pursuing Krag usage. This little known war has been touted as a precursor of the Vietnam War as far as the type of warfare involved. It too was controversial....

Re: Passed down Krag

AndrewKrag, your front sight appears to be a 1903 Springfield sight. What is the barrel length from the bolt face to muzzle? Any other markings on the barrel itself?

Re: Krag Rifle Serial #173672

I'll have to admit that it has been addicting to shining a light on long forgotten history. So here is another "captured" Krag in the Philippines, #167844. https://www.google.com/books/edition/United_States_Congressional_Serial_Set/PgpHAQAAIAAJ?hl=en&gbpv=1&dq=krag+jorgensen+captured+number&pg=PA157...

Re: Krag Rifle Serial #173672

That is what I was thinking (putting on the KCA list), BR. Have you seen the silly search words I used to find this. Krag, rifle and beef. I'm thinking the zanier my word searches are the more I can sniff out the last tidbits of info like this.
